About the Ride
Q: What is the Jerry Zucker Ride for Hope?
For the past nine years, the Jerry Zucker Ride for Hope was a road ride. This year, the ride is moving indoors for a group cycling class with George Hincapie, one of the most recognized riders in the world with numerous world championships, national championships and professional victories to his credit.
Q: Who is hosting the ride this year?
Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) has taken over planning and running the ride this year.
Q: When and where is the event?
The classes are 45 minutes each at 9:15, 10:15, 11:15, and 12:15 at the MUSC Wellness Center. Individuals and teams may pick their preferred class time, based on availability,with team members riding together or separately.
Q: I've registered, now what?
You should receive an email with a personalized fundraising link and our fundraising toolkit. If you haven't received this email within two business days, please contact hccevents@musc.edu
Skill Level and Class Times
Q: I have never ridden a stationary bike before, can I still participate?
Absolutely, no experience is necessary! Just come ready to play, and we'll show you the ropes.
Q: Can I change my class time?
We will do our best to see if another class time is available. Please email your new preferred class time to hccevents@musc.edu
Teams
Q: How many bikes can I have for my team?
Each team gets four bike throughout the event. Team members may all ride together, pending availability, or separately.
Q: Is there a limit to how many riders I can have on my team?
If your team needs more than four team members, please contact hccevents@musc.edu
Q: What does a team captain do?
The most important part of the team captain is to motivate your team to reach their fundraising goal and make sure you have one person per class.
Q: Can my team share the funds raised?
Yes, each team has a minimum goal of $2,000. If one person gets to $2,000, the other teammates can share those funds. However, we hope everyone will actively participate and be involved in the team's fundraising efforts.
Fundraising and Your Impact
Q: Where does the money raised go?
The money raised from the riders will support life-saving cancer research at Hollings Cancer Center. The funds will allow us to strategically recruit new researchers, allow scientists to be more innovative as they are less restricted on funding, and allow for international collaboration in pursuit of answers.
Q: How much of the money I raise will be directed towards to the cause?
100% of each rider-raised dollar will go directly towards cancer research at Hollings Cancer Center.
Q: Can I designate my funds to a specific cancer research area?
Unfortunately, we cannot allow you to specify which cancer research area your funds support. We promise we will make sure your money is spent wisely, responsibly and the best way possible.
Q: Are there fundraising requirements?
Yes, each rider must raise a minimum of $500 to participate.
Q: Can I raise more than the fundraising minimum?
Yes! Don't be shy, the sky is the limit! Feel free to keep on going after you meet your goal. Every dollar helps make a difference.
Q: Will I be responsible for any additional funds not raised?
Yes, you will be invoiced the remaining amount. But don't be scared, we will assist you every step of the way to help you meet your goal!
Q: When does fundraising end?
You have until December 5 to meet your fundraising goal.
Donations
Q: How can people donate to my goal?
You can have people donate online through your personalized fundraising page, write a check, or give you cash.
Q: If I have cash, what should I do?
Please bring the cash to the event with you or deposit the cash into your bank account and write a check on their behalf.
Q: Who should they make checks out to?
Please make checks payable to MUSC Foundation - Hollings Cancer Center.
Q: Can I mail my checks in throughout the fundraising period?
Yes, please make sure your name is indicated somewhere on the checks so we can credit your account. Please mail checks to Hollings Cancer Center, Office of Development, 86 Jonathan Lucas Street, MSC 955, Charleston, SC 29425.
Q: Will my donors receive a tax receipt?
Donors will automatically receive a receipt following their online transactions. Check receipts will be issued if an address is provided. Cash donations will not be receipted.
Q: What is MUSC Foundation's tax ID number?

Q: Will Hollings ask my donors for money after you have their information?
No, we will not solicit or contact your donors in any way, shape, or form unless the individual indicates that they wish to receive future communications from Hollings Cancer Center.
