Event history and mission
Racquets for Recovery is an annual tennis tournament hosted by the Pine Forest Ladies Tennis Association that raises money for MUSC Hollings Cancer Center's comprehensive breast care program. The event is a three-day USTA sanctioned Level 2 tournament located at the Pine Forest Country Club in Summerville, SC.
The Racquets for Recovery fund supports patients by providing them with help in their day-to-day lives, helping to ease their external burdens, including:
- Transportation funds for rides to medical appointments for patients with limited means.
- Mastectomy bras, which are essential tools for breast cancer patients' short and long term recovery.
- Wigs for those who choose to cover their head due to hair loss as a side effect of powerful chemotherapy drugs.
The Survivors’ Fit Club was also created with the help of our funding. The Fit Club is a program of fitness, diet, and emotional support to help survivors get back to a new normal after treatment.
