Fall Lecture Speakers

Dr. Thomas Di Salvo

Dr. Di Salvo

Thomas Di Salvo, M.D., attended Harvard College and graduated with honors from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Following medical residency and chief residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and serving on faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, he completed fellowship training in cardiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. After 10 years of clinical practice as an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard, he was recruited as medical director of the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute and as associate professor of medicine at Vanderbilt. In 2015, he was recruited as professor of medicine and chief of the division of cardiology at MUSC.

Dr. Holmstedt

Christine Holmstedt, D.O., is professor of neurology and emergency medicine at MUSC. Throughout her career as a vascular neurologist, she has made it her mission to improve stroke outcomes locally, regionally, and nationally through the development of innovative patient care delivery programs, care provider education, and stroke systems of care improvement. She is recognized nationally for achieving major accomplishments in research, teaching, and clinical service. Dr. Holmstedt’s commitment to excellence in stroke care has led to major leadership roles, including the MUSC Health Comprehensive Stroke Program’s medical director and the MUSC Health Teleneurosciences medical director.
