About the nursing shortage

In South Carolina, the critical shortage of nurses poses a formidable challenge to the healthcare system, necessitating innovative solutions to bolster the nursing workforce. At the forefront of these challenges are financial barriers that deter prospective students from pursuing nursing degrees.

Addressing this issue requires multifaceted approaches aimed at making nursing education more accessible and affordable. We can work together to help solve South Carolina’s nursing workforce shortage, where the ratio of nurses to residents is 9 to 1000!
