WHY ANOTHER GOLF TOURNAMENT?

There are currently more than 115,000 people waiting for life-saving organ transplants in the United States.  Living donors are crucial to reducing these statistics.  An organ from a living donor lasts twice as long and provides the highest quality at the lowest cost with the least amount of wait.

The Living Donor Institute began when a small group of transplant recipients and their families wanted to streamline their support for education and research and create a transformative resource for transplant patients, donors and their families.

Since its 50 years in existence, the MUSC Kidney Transplant Program has grown to be the 10th largest program in the nation and performs over 250 kidney transplants each year.  MUSC is also the only Living Donor Transplant Center in South Carolina, where more than 800 organs have been donated by living donors since the program started.  Thanks to the support of grateful patients and MUSC's dedicated professionals, our kidney, liver and lung transplant programs now have wait times lower than the national averages.

Our vision is to create a nationally-recognized program to serve as a leading resource for transplant patients and living donors through the pursuit of innovation, education, and research.  This event is another step towards making this goal a reality.  Learn more about the Living Donor Institute at MUSC.
